77th Annual Golden Globe Awards
1917 came up big with wins for best drama film and the best director trophy for Sam Mendes at the 77th Annual Golden Globes in Los Angeles on Sunday. The World War I drama bested favorites like The Irishman and Joker.
Another big winner was Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, picking up three awards for best comedy, best screenplay, and supporting actor for Brad Pitt.
Acting awards went to Renée Zellweger for Judy and Joaquin Phoenix for Joker in the drama categories while the comedy/musical wins went to Awkwafina for The Farewell and Taron Egerton for his turn as Elton John in the musical biopic Rocketman.
On the television side, HBO’s Succession was named the best television drama and its star, Brian Cox, best actor. Amazon Prime’s Fleabag continued to collect award accolades winning best comedy as well as best actress for creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Hosted by comedian Ricky Gervais, the show was held at the Beverly Hills Hilton and notably for the first time featured a plant-based dinner menu. The full list of winners is below.
